Georgie Beattie
Stop Motion Animator, Product Photographer, Stylist
Georgie Beattie is a stop motion animator, product photographer and stylist, specialising in short form content. Her recent projects include creating costumes for a music video, animated scientific explainer videos for a nutritional supplement company from her studio space in Park Royal, and making animated special effects for a children's charity film. She has produced a stop motion animated short film that was nominated at Sundance Film Festival and is currently working on her passion project.
Artworks for Just Playing Exhibition:
The costumes in this exhibition were built for a short film for T. Evann's EP Unfree Silver Mountain, a selection of songs based around environmental awareness and the constant yearning for escapism to nature. Each costume relates to a different setting we shot in, including Covehithe Beach and Dunwich Forest. I strengthened the relationship between piece and place by building part of each costume on set and prioritising organic materials throughout the works.
PLAY is freedom, experimentation, spontaneity and imagination. But I also fundamentally believe you have to be present and feel connected to yourself in order to unleash the ability to PLAY - a feeling I had throughout this project. We all have the power to PLAY, but need to be in the right environment and surrounded by the right people/things. PLAY is a reminder to listen to our bodies and nourish ourselves in order to maximise our creativity.
Unfree Silver Mountain will be released at the end of the year.
