Sculpture in Plaster

Maximilian A. Shapiro is a modeller and sculptor working in various materials, but always rendering his finished products as plaster casts. With a focus on Architectural facades, his commissions have included the Brittania Royal Naval College (Dartmouth), Lincoln Cathedral, and The Treasury, Petra.

Battersea Park Adventure Playground

By treating the now-demolished Battersea Park Adventure Playground in the same manner as, and exhibiting beside, monumental state architecture, Maximilian A. Shapiro hopes to raise the question of what constitutes important and memorable. The Battersea Park Adventure Playground was demolished in 2013 due to a lack of funding, and its free play area replaced with a commercial Go Ape site.
