Artist Statement

Poppy Lennox's paintings and sculptures look to the structures of the universe and nature's intricate systems to make visible the interconnectivity of life. Working in a variety of mediums — wood, plaster, paint, earth, metal powders, beeswax, raw silk and thread — she explores the human desire to seek pattern as a way of understanding the vastness and complexities of existence, and how we, as part of this system, perceive and place ourselves within its intricate web. Her work reveals pattern reminiscent of both mycelial and cosmic networks.

Tethered forms of thread go beyond the woven mark to connect the microcosm and macrocosm, reflecting on the energetic and vibrational forces that surround every aspect of life.

Poppy's practice is both an artistic inquiry and an act of grounding. As the parent of a child with a rare neurological condition, her work is shaped by the complexities of this experience. The slow, meditative act of weaving and stitching becomes a quiet ritual of anchoring. Repetitive gestures accumulate into form, echoing the vibrational patterns of life and the fragility of personal experience. There is a palpable tension held within these marks — repetition verging on compulsion — as if the act of making is not only meditative, but a way of navigating that which feels fragmented.

The Transcendentalist belief in the divinity of nature and the importance of our connection to it runs through much of Poppy's work. The titles of recent bodies of work — Collective Sentience, All That There Is To Be Known, Echoes of the Land, Energy Lines — speak to a pursuit of ascension, self-liberation, or perhaps refuge.

Spirituality is woven into the structure of the work itself and Poppy is deeply engaged in a process of making that seeks connection with something larger; linking her own energy with that of her materials and, through them, with the wider forces of existence.

Since transitioning from a career as a project manager for museums, curators and artists, Poppy's work has been shown in several exhibitions, art fairs and auctions including Kindred Gallery, London (2026), Ruup & Form, London (2025), London Art Fair (2025), Crypt Gallery, Norwich Cathedral (2023), 99 Projects, London (2022), Home House, London (2022) and Christie's (2022). She has sold to collectors in the UK, US, Singapore and the Middle East, and has work in the collection of renowned London wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd, for whom she created a limited-edition artists' label (2021). Poppy has worked with arts mental health charities Hospital Rooms (2022) and A Space Between (2022), and volunteered with ActionSpace (2024) to support artists with disabilities. Her series Echoes of the Land featured in Stephen Ellcock's publication Common People (October 2025).
